Hautes-Pyrénées : agglomération Tarbes-Lourdes launches the Cycle route « Véloroute V81 » (42km)

Departement: Pyrénées (Hautes) Region: Midi-Pyrénées
In April 2019 the Community of Agglomeration Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées decided to create the Véloroute du Piémont pyrénéen (V81) on its territory, between St-Pé-de-Bigorre (limit with the Pyrénées-Atlantiques) and Tarbes, for about 42km. This Véloroute will take over the AF3V proposals.
It will connect St-Pé-de-Bigorre to Tarbes via the Lourdes wood (16km), and Lourdes to Tarbes by following in part the already existing «Chemin Vert» (26km possible in Greenway or quasi-Greenway, requested by the AF3V).
AF3V, which has been requesting this development since 2010 and had made proposals for a route, welcomes this decision.
The Tarbavélo Cyclomotivé Collectif, AF3V local relay for the Pyrenean Piedmont and the agglomeration of Tarbes, demands a quality itinerary, usable both for daily travel and for leisure and cycling tourism, and would like to be associated with the implementation of the project.
